In his continuation from last week’s sermon titled “The Cut of the Covenant,” Pastor Jimmy drew insights from 1 Corinthians 1:18-22, framing the context as a cultural tension between religious Jews and intellectual Greeks. He emphasised the Jews’ history with God’s signs, even in the presence of Jesus Christ, yet their persistent demand for more signs. Analysing 1 Corinthians 1:23 through Deuteronomy 21:22-23 and Galatians 3:13, Pastor Jimmy explained the stumbling block for Jews in the crucifixion, revealing the hidden redemptive power behind the seemingly cursed cross. In contrast, the Greeks, relying on logic and eloquence, struggled to grasp a Supreme being offering His Son as a sacrifice. Reading from 1 Corinthians 2:1-16 and 1 Corinthians 4:20, Pastor Jimmy highlighted the power behind the spoken word of God, which may defy logic but suffices. Concluding with Ephesians 1:13-14, he affirmed that accepting Jesus marks believers with the Holy Spirit’s seal, carrying a coded message. Encouraging spiritual expressions like speaking in tongues, he referenced Romans 8:26, where the Holy Spirit intercedes. The sermon closed with the resounding proclamation that believers are marked by the Spirit, as God’s presence encompasses their existence.
